A New Buddy

Davis has a new pal, sweet Logan Weathers. He is positively adorable! Good thing he is easy and laidback, because Davis was everywhere and is still learning the phrase "be gentle". I cannot wait until Logan gives Davis a run for his money. We are looking forward to many more fun times with this sweet, sweet family!

A weekend of fun for all!

Jared and I hosted one of Jared's clients and his wife at the Mavs game last night. So, we took the opportunity to head up there mid afternoon to get some errands done and get in some quality "Big D" time. We had a lot of places to hit in a short amount of time. You would have thought we were on a Christmas mission with the way we were in and out of stores and had strategically mapped out our stops. But we got it all done and even had time to have dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant and stop in to see our favorite 13 month old little girl!

The game was exciting and Jared's clients were really fun. The craziest part of the weekend had to have been when Jared and I slept until 10:15....WHAT??? That has not happened since college, but it felt oh so nice!!

So, where was Davis for two weekends in a row? Davis got to spend the night at one of his favorite places, Gigi and Paw Paw's.

I think he was having fun... :)

It was a fun weekend for all!

Golf Lessons Starting Early

Not so much lessons as photo shoots...

Davis and I went to Brenda & Dale Wayne's (my best friend Camille's parents, also known as Fairy & Dale Dayne by the kiddos in our family) today to take some pictures of Davis on their golf green for his upcoming birthday invitation. We like to think it is foreshadowing for his golf future that he was brought home from the hospital on the Masters weekend and his birthday will forever be around that tournament. So, of course, there is the theme for his party. Not so sure that every party will have a theme, but it's the first, and I digress...

Anyway, Davis and I showed up at their door about 9:30 for some fun with our favorite surrogate parents/grandparents.

Davis LOVES Fairy. She's always so fun, loves to tickle, has the best fingers to gnaw on (poor Brenda), and has the coolest things to look at in her house. Literally the first few minutes from Davis were silent as he took everything in.

And who doesn't get a kick out of Dale Dayne? I mean, he plays peek-a-boo with Davis, brought him an extra light switch to play with, let him drive the golf cart, and gave him a Hershey's kiss.

Getting the perfect shot of an unmobile but sitting up 6 month old is SO much easier than trying to capture a moment of a very active 10 month old! But we all did our best. Anyway, it was fun. Davis loved crawling around on the green and chasing the golf balls. Jared hated he missed his first experience on the golf green. But I feel confident in saying it won't be his last venture.

Here are a few shots of us trying to capture the future golfer. We actually got some pictures of him looking at the camera, but I'll save the best one for later :) And of course, the first taste of chocolate.

Attitude Adjustment

Your atttitude should be the same as Christ Jesus. Philippians 2:5

I think that might be on my list of top 5 verses/quotes of all time. I came across this verse this week and it has repeated itself in my head throughout the day.

Wow, pretty powerful. How is Jesus' attitude? Jesus is patient, kind, resilient, loving, compassionate, and forgiving. He never backs down from what he believes, did not feel sorry for himself or wish for different circumstances. Jesus is able to find joy in situations. He is true to himself in every circumstance.

Of course, He is Courtney. Hello, He is GOD and perfect! We have all seen the WWJD bracelets. But for me, this verse has really spoken to me this week.

While I am a pretty happy person, I can find myself:
- Being impatient with a baby who is only trying to explain his frustration at biting down on his tender gums by squishing his food and screaming out when he cannot express it any other way
- Daydreaming while I'm loading or unloading the dishwasher that it sure would be nice to have a brain stimulating project to work on. And I am sure there are mothers who work who daydream at work about being able to stay home with their little ones.
- Having moments of "why me?" when it seems like Davis has been irritable for a week with teeth pain. I mean honestly, an irritable baby from teeth pain is nothing, and I am embarrassed to admit it. We have friends whose precious children have serious illnesses that I can only imagine.
- Thinking about the "if onlys" and wishing for different circumstances. Like, "if only" we had just a little more money so we can get the living room "done". Seriously, like that even matters.

The reality is I am human and everyone thinks these thoughts, no matter how blessed they are. And I absolutely KNOW that I and my family are blessed way more than we deserve. There is not a list long enough to name all the ways that we are blessed.

I am not perfect, and neither is my attitude. And I will fall short daily of my attitude being like Christ's 100% of the day. But, this verse gives me something to work towards and hope for. It feels like this his way of giving Courtney Green an attitude adjustment.

And it also gives me peace, that I have a God who is all of these things that I can rely on to be perfect, when I am not.

HGTV at the Greens' House

Not really, and by all means, we do not even remotely put ourselves on the same level as professionals.

But Jared and I tackled our unbelievably drab and uninviting bedroom this past weekend. We always seem to leave our bedroom last in line whenever we move into a new place. After all, it's just us seeing it. While the rest of our house is far from being "done", our bedroom was quite frankly on the border of becoming depressing. Pictures below can describe what I'm talking about. Can we say boring and dull?

My parents kept Davis for the weekend so we could get everything done. Jared and I had a really good time spending the whole day together on Saturday. We had painted our whole house in Dallas ourselves. So, having the dropcloths out and our old paint clothes on brought back a lot of really great memories. Jared is still in charge of the roller, I am over the brush.

We really enjoy working on things around the house. While we greatly depend on our moms to give us decorating advice, we (primarily Jared) can usually get the project done.

The shot of the "before" and the "after" are listed below...

There are still a ton of other projects on our list. But it's something to look forward to and to enjoy together.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

This Valentine's weekend looks like what Christmas morning is supposed to be!

This was the 4th snow of the season, but this one definitely won the prize. We woke up this morning to find about 6 inches of snow! Absolutely beautiful how it covered the tiniest of branches on a tree. Jared kept saying, "Davis, if you were only a couple of years older..." We did take him outside all bundled up to take a couple of pictures. But no snow angels quite yet!

10 months go by so fast!

WOW! The expression time flies becomes amplified once a little one comes along. I cannot believe Davis is already 10 months old and we are actually talking about when to have his 1st birthday party. WHAT??? That's crazy!! But it's true.

10 months ago yesterday we became a family of three. 8 months ago I would have never believed that the tiny little "upset" baby would be the most unbelievably happy little boy that he is today. Davis truly smiles with his entire face. Well, let's be honest, he shows his excitement with his entire body :)

We are so thankful every day for this little man.
Davis, you don't have to work so hard to grow up so fast. Daddy and I wouldn't mind a bit if you slowed down just a little :) Here's to all the fun that lies ahead!

Officially Bloggers

So, the Greens are a little behind the blogging game. But better late than never so they say!

It has already been 7 months since we moved from Dallas! So crazy how time flies so quickly!! On some days, it feels like we just left the Big D. Others, it feels like we never left East Texas to begin with.

The lifestyle back in East Texas is so nice and unbelievably family friendly. A long night for Jared at the office means that he is still home by 6:00 and people literally walk the aisles in the grocery store to see if you need help!

We have started to meet some great people and are beginning to feel more plugged in. "Being settled" is actually a phrase that we feel we can now use. But don't ask me how many walls still need something hung on them, how many rooms need curtains, etc.! Gosh, I forgot how long it takes for all of that to get done!

Being so near family is such a blessing. We love that we can easily go see grandparents and cousins for the day. In fact, Jared's mom and husband are coming over for dinner tonight, just because. Well, of course, it is to come see Davis :) But we absolutely love it! Here are just a few pictures of Davis enjoying some impromptu time with grandparents over the last couple of weeks.

Cuddling with Lovey (Jared's mom)

Playing with Papa B (Jared's dad)

Paw Paw (my dad) gives Davis his first driving lesson

But, we definitely miss our favorite Dallas restaurants, our church home, and most importantly, our beloved friends!
Jared and I definitely count our blessings daily. So much to be thankful for! Especially a little monkey that's crawling around everywhere :)
Until next time!
